Emmanuel Milingo: Rev Moon’s Patriarch for Africa

From the Lusaka Times:

Former Lusaka Catholic Archbishop Emmanuel Milingo will this weekend be installed as a patriarch of Africa in charge of the southern African region.

…Archbishop Milingo told the Times in Lusaka that the ceremony would follow a similar one held in Cameroun which was organised by five churches.

…He said the gathering would be held under the auspices of the Ecumenical Catholic Apostolic Church of Peace and would be witnessed by several married bishops.

…Among the churches which would be represented are the Old Catholic Church, Orthodox, Liberal Catholic of Spain, Charismatic Church of Brazil, Independent Catholic and others from the United States of America and other parts of the world.

…Founder of Imani Temple of America, Augustus Stallings is among the clerics expected from the US.

This is a story I’ve been following for some time; Milingo and Stallings are both close to Rev Sun Myung Moon (Milingo declared that Moon is the Messiah in 2007, while Stallings played a central role in Moon’s 2004 “coronation” in a Senate office building), and the “Church of Peace” is part of the Unifcation Church’s strategy. The word “Peace” looms large in Unification Church branding: the formal name of the religion is “Family Federation for World Peace and Unification“, and groups and events it has established include the Universal Peace Federation, the Global Peace Festival, and a number of “Peace Embassies”. In 2007, the Catholic Apostolic National Church of Zambia was launched at one such “Peace Embassy”, and Moon referenced the creation of a “United Family Church of Peace” in a 2004 speech.

Along with Zambia and Cameroon, Unificationist-linked schismatic Catholic groups have been established in Kenya and Uganda.

  1. […] UPDATE:   Read also Richard Bartholomew’s take: Emmanuel Milingo: Rev Moon’s Patriarch for Africa, here. […]

  2. I am amazed as a Catholic how Moon could make these advances – we are certainly in the end times
where men will give up sound doctrine and follow myths.

  3. No one should be amazed that Reverend could make these advances in the end times when mankind should be reaching out to one another. Whatever your sound doctrine may be is exactly that a “doctrine”. It is not a myth when we see thousands married at once which is what God is hoping we do. Throughout the ages the Roman Catholic Church has brought us things like the Inquisition and Crusades and we fail to learn from those mistakes. So now comes along some short oriental guy that does not fit the mold who is extending a hand to the religious community to help unite us around God. Everything I’ve read sounds like the Catholic Church is so caught up in its sex scandals “doctrine” it can’t see this guy is doing the very thing they were supposed to promote “Marriages.” So what’s wrong with making a statement to all mankind that God is at the center of the family. Has anyone talked to a Unificationist lately? Probably not. They’ve been getting brainwashed by the media on how terrible these Mass Marriage must be. So when did the news media become experts on marriage? I think as time marches on with the a sky rocketing divorce rate and a 40% out of wedlock births, it is time to put up or shut up. I think Reverend Moon is on to something here. How refreshing!

  4. Dear christians,Milingo Was,is and will allwyas be,a Holy man, anointed by God and Gods Church. There is other parts of the church of christ,as legitimate as the Roman Catholic church and even older, that recognise Milingo and his Love to God,mankind and christs church.
The institutional stubbornes of the Roman church about celebacy,is the problem in all this,or as many say,the old face of Satan, still wanting to govern some of the theology of the Roman church.
And still, the celebacy has not been in the church before the 14th century,at least not as a rule all priests must live accordingly to.
I know brother Milingo well,at least i did.
The Holy succecition from christ lives in him,no matter of the Bishop of Rome say yes or no about it.
    A excommunication,can also be revoced!
