WorldNetDaily Sense of Proportion Fail

Here:

A self-described Christian 12-year-old boy who dared post his views on same-sex marriage on the popular Internet video site, YouTube, has since been ridiculed and insulted by tens of thousands of comments that attack the boy, his sexuality and his faith.

Read how Christian heroes of the past have bravely faced their persecutors with a faith that overcomes in “Foxe’s Book of Martyrs,” newly updated with stories from as recent as 2001.

Foxe’s Book of Martyrs is an overview of Christians who were killed for their faith, with a particular emphasis on Protestant Christians who were killed in England during the reign of Queen Mary in the sixteenth century. Method of execution was usually burning to death, rather than the infliction of mocking and abusive comments.

  1. This kid has endured ridiculous abuse, and I wouldn’t underestimate the effect that taunts of this kind can have. He is just a kid, yet has been mocked mercilessly (with taunts of being a fag, that he should kill himself) by so-called grown-ups.

But WND are dumb to praise him for this. Watch the rest of his videos and he is clearly unhinged. In one video he smacks himself round the head repeatedly. In another he relates a story of how he was bullied and vented his anger by coming home and smashing a brick “into a million pieces”. On his profile, he says that he plays violent video games because it’s “good to let out those violent feelings deep down inside.”

This disturbed kid is gagging for attention, and he’s now got it from every corner of the internet, including the fundies. I wouldn’t be surprised if an older kid was putting him up to some of this – he even said in one video that he used to be gay but discovered it was wrong so now he likes girls – “a lot” – and he has male teen idols on the wall behind him for Chrissakes!. But if he’s for real, my bet is his next attention-getting act will be shooting a classmate or worse.
