Another Religious Event at US Capitol

A strange bit of writing from Julia Duin, religion blogger at the Washington Times:

On Sept. 25, Dar ul Islam, a mosque in Elizabeth, N.J., is slating a massive Friday “jummah” prayer event at the west front of the U.S. Capitol; on the very site that President Obama gave his inauguration speech not so long ago. This is not a joke.

Why would it be “a joke”?

She observes:

Well, I guess if Louis Farrakhan could preach from the same spot during the Million Man March nearly 14 years ago, so can these folks.

Erm…there’s a  more recent example of preaching there by someone from a minority religious group: just last year, the spot was taken by the son of Washington Times owner Sun Myung Moon, as part of one of Moon’s Universal Peace Federation’s Global Peace Festivals (slogan: “One Family Under God”). As was reported at the time:

The festival, held on the West Lawn of the Capitol, represents the launch of a long-term initiative by more than 150 faith- and community-based organizations to advocate for peace and unity worldwide.

Speakers included D.C. civil rights activist and former D.C. Delegate Walter E. Fauntroy and GPF Chairman Hyun Jin Moon, son of Unification Church founder the Rev. Sun Myung Moon.

There was also one in London.

  1. You’re going to learn that establishing false equivalences in an effort to embed radical islam among other less violent forms of religion in order to deflect from its murderous tendancies will backfire.

This has little to do with prayer and piety a lot to do with staking territory.

It’s a gesture of supremacism., a supremacism that aims to ultimately expropriate the american political arena and to subjegate it to sharia law.

It is lttler more than an assault, a territorial agression couched in the passive language of Judeo-Christian theology.

The point of this event has absolutely northing to dowith prayer.

You should read more Magdi Allam to gtet a better grip on this

    • Its called equality: you cannot give preference to one religious group over another. If Christians are allowed to hass mass praying rallies then so are Jews and Muslims and Hindus for that matter. Just like during the civil rights era racists saw misinterpreted equality as the “others” taking over, we have the anti-Islamics right now seeing equality as Islam taking over. Not much difference

    • June’s argument is the same argument racists put forward when non-whites were given equal rights to do as the majority did, namely that they would take over. How sad and hilarious at the same time.

  2. Will the Islamic leaders holding this event also call on muslim nations to allow christians to do this sort of thing publicly in their countries?

    God Bless,

    • This has nothing to do with what may happen in another country. That is the standard deflection used by anti-Islamics to take away any equality Muslims might enjoy.

  3. What, no comments on the 300 or more Jewish PAC groups and religious outifts that are descending on DC this weekend, to bribe, threaten, harass and intimidate the Congress and WH to get behind the Israeli attack on Iran?

Not that they need much goading, since the Congress steps lively whenever AIPAC and its stooges whistle.

Jewish interests pushed forth a multitude of lies about Saddam’s ‘nukes’ and lies about Saddam being mobbed up with the 9/11 crowd.

But those lies worked, as over 1.3 dead Iraqi’s would attest, if they could talk.

Now those same “Judeo-Christian’ interests are telling lies about Iran, so Americans can be fooled again into fighting another war for Israel.

This is the true face of the Judeo-Christians who proclaim to be ‘peace’ lvoing people, just like Israel always proclaims that it is a ‘peace’ loving nation.

The only ‘peace’ Israel wants is:

A ‘piece’ of Syria; a ‘piece’ of Jordan; a ‘piece’ of Iraq; a ‘piece’ of Saudi Arabia; a ‘piece’ of Turkey; a ‘piece’ of Egypt; a ‘piece’ of Lebanon and whatever ‘pieces’ are left of Palestine after Apartheid Israel finishes its campaign of ethnic cleansing against the Palestinians.

The only question left is how much of America is left after getting tricked into fighting a never ending series of wars for Israel.

As for those gullible types that cower in fear whenever they hear the word Muslim, congratulations, that’s what a certain group of war mongers want you to do.
That group is Apartheid Israel and God help us if we become as paranoid, sadistic, violent, racist and as murderous as that nation of bigots.

    • The idea of some kind of Jewish conspiracy behind American foreign policy is not helpful. Jews have all kinds of different views, just like every other group, America has its own interests in the Middle East, and support for Israel is best explained as being due to history and cultural affinity.
