Teaching English as a Missionary Language

As the proud owner of a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Certificate, the idea of missionaries posing as language teachers is of particular interest to me. The phenomenon of TEML (Teaching English as a Missionary Language) is the subject of my latest post at Talk to Action.

  1. I teach English in Korea, and have come across some Mormon missionaries in my area of Seoul. I have witnessed them passing out flyers advertising “free English lessons.” I don’t know the whole story, but it made me a bit uneasy (and resentful of the competition!)
