LibertyGB: What Paul Weston Did Next

3 January, from the website of the English Defence League’s political wing, British Freedom:

British Freedom are pleased to announce that Deputy Chairman Kevin Carroll has today stepped up into the role of party Chairman.

Outgoing Chairman Paul Weston:

“It is with great sadness I must announce my resignation as Chairman of British Freedom. I am writing a book about the current dire state of Britain, which is going to take up the majority of my time over the coming months, and I feel it would be better for British Freedom to be led by someone who can devote more time to the party…”

4 February, from a posting by Paul Weston to a new Facebook page entitled “LibertyGB”:

This facebook page is intended for use as a forum prior to the establishment of a new political party or movement. All comments and thoughts will be gratefully received. My old FB page will be gradually phased out over the next few weeks, by which time I hope to have the name of a new party registered with the Electoral Commission along with the launch of the party’s website. I am working with an excellent team of committed people in order to achieve this and we hope to be ready before March 1st.

In comments following, Weston explains that “there will be substantial differences from BF.”

Weston’s new political party also has a website; however, his tome on “the dire state of Britain” has yet to appear. Could it really be the case that his “great sadness” in January was… insincere?

I previously blogged on Weston here.

  1. I’ve just had a gander at PW’s new website and I’m wondering how the teachers and parents of the English Martyrs’ Catholic School feel about having a photo of their children appearing on such a site.
And it’s somewhat ironic that the Daily Mail article the photo is taken from talks about the high standard the pupils are achieving!

PS Presumably the photograph is copyright? Let’s hope it’s a Getty picture – they don’t take kindly to their images being pirated.

  2. YES, I TOO HAVE DOUBTS ABOUT PAUL’S SINCERITY.
He resigned from BF stating it was for finding time to write a book and low and beyold he appeared as Chairman of a new party withiun 2 months – Libertygb!!
How can ANYONE possibbly find time to do all that i just 2 months!!
The reasons i have heard from some people are absolute RUBBISH!! I.E. he wanted to disaccociate himself from the EDL – who he personally endorsed as ‘joining of minds’ with!! He also endorsed Kevin Carrol, EDL co-Chairmain to be Chairman of BFP. Is that HYPOCRYTICAL?? I truly believe it is!!
Also, what are the so called, “substantial differences” between BFP and Libertygb? I have studied them both and i fail to agree with this!!
Both have as a main priority the Islamic issue, apparantly presenting a one issue agenda.
BFP have their ’20 point plan’ but now, as an expied expired member, never heard them discuss anything but Islamic issues.
The same applies to Libertygb – their website is full of anti-islamic idealism – nothing else!! What sort of a party is that with a one issue agenda??
From what i have seen, Paul does not grasp the basic meaning of ‘POLITICS’
