Although it hasn’t so far made the mainstream news, Ant Middleton has been welcomed by Reform UK at the Makerfield by-election campaign: images on social media show the former soldier and SAS: Who Dares Wins TV presenter posing with local canvassers and with the candidate, Rob Kenyon, as well as with the party’s failed Gorton & Denton candidate, Matt Goodwin. Goodwin, as usual channelling his inner Partridge, has expressed his excitement at the development with the comment “LFG Makerfield” (1). It is not explicit that Middleton has come to support Reform over Rupert Lowe’s Restore, which threatens Kenyon’s prospects from the right, but it is a reasonable assumption [UPDATE: and has now been confirmed].
However, when an endorsement is gratefully received it works both ways – Reform previously passed Middleton over as its prospective candidate for mayor of London, yet now embraces a man who is an ally of Tommy Robinson and who has articulated an openly racist position on ethnic minority participation in politics:
1st, 2nd & 3rd generation immigrants SHOULD NOT hold top tier government positions! Our great nation, our culture and our great people are not naturally at the forefront of their hearts & minds! It’s just not in their nature or DNA! […] Our Capital City of our Christian country needs to be run by a native Brit with generational Christian values, principles and morals coursing through their veins from which our very society was built, thrived and was forged upon.
Prior to that, Middleton promoted at least one post that contrasted him with “Pakistan-origin Mayor Sadiq Khan”. It’s not clear whether he is simply exhorting people to reject candidates based on their ethnicity or if he wants them banned from standing for office.
Back on 24 March 2025 Middleton promised to “release my side of the story tomorrow here on X” regarding the circumstances that saw him made a disqualified company director over £1 million in unpaid tax. He has not been pressed to fulfil this promise.
UPDATE (12 June): One thing I didn’t mention in the above was Middleton’s 2013 conviction for assulting a female police officer while drunk. I knew about it, of course, but decided that Reform could very reasonably say that he has paid his debt to society and sobered up, and that an unhappy incident from so long ago unrelated to political activism ought not to be held against him forever. However, Labour has had no such qualms; and Middleton’s response, bizarrely, has been to deny that the incident ever happened, and to mock someone for citing a report about it from the Daily Mirror.

1. “LFG” apparently stands for “Let’s Fucking Go”. Performative profanity seems to be part of populist right identity, presumably to signal contempt for old-fashioned “taste and decency” conservatism. This extends to Christian nationalism, with Middleton riling up the crowd at a Tommy Robinson rally last year with the assertion that “we can’t even fucking celebrate Christmas these days without offending someone”. At the most recent Robinson rally, attendees held placards stating “Fuck Islam Christ is King”.

Middelton is correct in fact it is written into The Act of Settlment that no foreigner can hold public office unless they have lived amongst us for ten generations.
We are being governed by people openly committing treason, and we are moving closer to all-out civil war.
With Starmer and Hermer waging lawfare against the SAS it would not be surprising as a Vet to see the Army and the Veterans take down the police and government.
All those responsible for the carnage that would happen will be put on trial for treason and dealt with harshly. No nation can survive treason from within.
“Our great nation” ? The likes of corrupt Starmer have converted Britain into a scrappy island, with a collapsed prison system bursting at the seams, run by drugs gangs, a collapsed justice system riddled with corruption, where police whistleblowers are abandoning policing disgusted with constabularies corruption, paedophilia rife, some 20 million cases 98% covered up, a corrupt church, and the U.K. cannot even pay off its national debts. Exposures of the Royal Family, so no role model, it needs a radical overhaul, but immigration is not the cause, the numbers in comparison with the domestic population are microscopic, importing expertise; doctors, nurses, etc. is filling gaps the internal population cannot fill. The biggest problem is lack of education. The largest number of sex abusers / murderers are very Brit. Starmer is a manipulative liar, weak as dishwater, promises pledges dropped in the sea. And the political scene is bad. None of them have answers, PMQs a theatrical blame someone else. The U.K. now, is 14th Century and it needs a clean up, run by mathematicians and sociologists working together. Scientists with social care. I was once in the Army, but that is a grounding in discipline, not social mathematics to balance the country’s needs.

The Act of Settlement never had any restrictions on generational residence. It merely required that anyone in public office should have been born in England, or of English parents. This requirement was repealed by a number of Acts passed since; in particular the 1981 Nationality Act.

For example, does “3rd / 10th / whatever” British apply to all direct ancestors (parents, grandparents, greatgrandparents etc) or just to the direct paternal line? What if just one of those ancestors was born in Ireland, or America or Australia? Does “Scottish” count as British?
And what flavour of Christianity should they be? Catholic? CoE? Presbyterian? Plymouth Brethren? Assemblies of God?
These people need to hire a nice castle where they all can get together and thrash out exactly who counts as True British!
Mrs. Grimble, I totally agree with you. One solution would be to ask for DNA of the idiots to see what mix they have. African ? Middle East ? Viking ? And the U.N. has recently denounced Britain as the worst nation for child trafficking and the Church of England one of the largest institutional traffickers. More serious crimes have been committed in the name of “christian” religion than any other group in the U.K.. I like your analysis of what “flavour” of christians it should be to run the country !! And Mrs Grimble, Church of England clerics were telling surgeons not to save the lives of babies born with “defects”, this together with CoE sterilisation experiments on mental patients, and on children – the “feeble minded” – we have recorded 2,800 cases 1950’s to 1970’s – to change the nation’s genes. I see no 11th Commandment “Thou shalt screw babies and children, and murder those not usuable as sex objects and for trafficking”.
