Richardson Defends Pro-Koln

Walid Shoebat associate Joel Richardson is annoyed:

You know the world has been turned upside-down when those who wish to preserve Germany and Europe from Islamization (and the inevitable corrosion of human rights and freedoms that always follow such) are marginalized as extremists and right-wing nationalists while those Islamo-imperialists who would fulfill the prophecies of their prophet are seen as the poor and the persecuted that need protection from “intolerance”…

Richardson is upset that authorities had shut down the “pro-Koln” anti-mosque rally in Cologne. So how did it come about that the pro-Koln activists were “marginalized as extremists and right-wing nationalists”? Speigel Online reports:

In an effort to attract large crowds to the event, Pro Cologne recently unveiled a lineup that reads like a Who’s Who of the European right-wing populist scene. As keynote speakers, it listed Jean-Marie Le Pen of the French National Front (“I believe in the inequality of races”) and Heinz-Christian Strache, chancellor candidate for the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) — a man who had contact to the banned right-wing extremist Viking Youth group and is seeking to amend the Austrian constitution to forbid mosque construction…

(Le Pen actually denied he had been invited, and claimed that his name was being used “to create propaganda” by the event organisers)

The British National Party website adds:

The BNP’s Richard Barnbrook will be one of the high profile speakers addressing an open air meeting which is part of an international “anti-Islamisation conference” in Cologne, Germany, today, to protest against the construction of mosques and Muslim immigration.

You know the world has been turned upside-down when those who support Israel and regard Jews as God’s chosen people are willing to laud a group that seeks the support of the likes of Jean-Marie Le Pen (“In France, at least, the German occupation was not particularly inhumane, although there were some blunders” – presumably refering to the deportation of 76,000 Jews) and Richard Barnbrook, whose party leader Nick Griffin (a) wrote an anti-Jewish screed entitled Who are the Mind-Benders? and (b) has admitted that his turn to anti-Muslim rhetoric is simply strategic.

  1. I can’t get over there being a chap called Shoebat.

But I’m interested to see that Strache, a reliably odious figure but fairly salonfaehig, would involve himself with this lot, who seem to have included a lot of real neo-nazi crazies.

  2. As I have said elsewhere about you Richard, whether you choose to purposefully misunderstand or simply do so due to some particular innate lack, I will not judge. But for clarity; to highlight a glaring hypocrisy and double standard with regard to censorship does not intone the “defense” on my part of anything, particularly anything racist. That is the whole point of my frustration. I have no idea who the Koln are or what they believe, nor does it affect my point. If you cannot acknowledge the irony of European protesters fighting tooth an nail for the censorship of one group while fighting equally for the rights of another group which seeks to Islamicize Europe, ultimately causing all freedom of speech to be squelched, (unless you can name an Islamic nation where freedom of speech is celebrated) then I cannot reason with you. When the standard response to anyone who accurately points out the intolerance and racism of Islam, is to accuse them of being bigoted, intolerant and racist, then all reason is lost. Again, whether liberal or conservative here, these should be issues that we can agree on.

  3. “I have no idea who the Koln are or what they believe, nor does it affect my point.” It seems to me that you were talking about the “irony” of condemning the Pro-Köln demonstrators as “extremists.” Thus, if it turns out that they in fact ARE extremists, then it kind of invalidates your argument.

Just for the record, the facts appear to be as follows: the Pro-Kölners are racist, ultra-right-wing nationalists. They just don’t like having Muslims (or Jews) around. That’s why they’re doing what they’re doing. These days, the German government regularly intervenes when neo-Nazi groups plan demonstrations because they tend to become violent very quickly. Personally, I don’t think this really qualifies as dangerous censorship.

  4. Joel: it was clear from you post that you believed that pro-Koln is being unfairly characterised; now you’re saying you don’t know either way! Once again you back away from your position while complaining bitterly that you never meant it.

I don’t seek to distort what you write, and I think I have fairly decent comprehension skills. Any “misunderstanding” (if it really is such) must be due to your sloppy writing and thinking.

  5. My admitted error and sloppiness was not doing more research about the group that was being censored. I’ll give you that. The article that I cited said nothing about who the group was or what they believe. But again, for clarity, the purpose of my post was not to defend the group nor to claim that they were being mischaracterized. I was highlighting a clear double-standard brought about by a mindless submission to “tolerance”. One group may not protest while another may build a permanent pulpit for intolerance and racism. Again, we should be able to agree that we have a common enemy and agree that human rights and freedoms have a higher priority above an unqualified “tolerance” at all costs.

I will also give you that this was clever and cute, although the notion that I was “lauding” anyone is simply nonsense. Cheers.
